Glutathione is administered via subcutaneous injection three times weekly, spaced evenly across the week (e.g. Monday / Wednesday / Friday).
Consistent spacing maintains stable systemic levels across the active cycle.

Subcutaneous glutathione is documented at 100–200mg per injection, 2–3 times weekly. Cycles of 4–8 weeks with a 2–4 week break are standard. A 1500mg vial at 5mL BAC water yields approximately 7 full injections at 200mg, plan for 2–3 vials per 8-week cycle at maintenance dosing.
Administration Timing
Glutathione is typically administered 3–5 times per week, spacing doses evenly throughout the week helps maintain consistent blood levels and allows the body to respond progressively rather than in peaks and troughs.
- Morning or pre-exercise: Administering in the morning or before physical activity may help leverage glutathione's antioxidant activity during periods of higher oxidative stress.
- Fasted or light meal state: Injecting in a fasted state or before a light meal is commonly preferred, as it avoids potential interactions with digestive activity and may support absorption.
- Consistent days: Selecting fixed days, such as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, helps build a routine and ensures doses don't cluster inadvertently.
- Cycle structure: Running 8–12 active weeks followed by a 4-week break allows the body to maintain endogenous glutathione production and prevents adaptive downregulation.
Consistent administration across the full cycle produces the most sustained elevation of glutathione levels, irregular use significantly reduces cumulative benefit.
Notes & Best Practices
- Vitamin C co-administration: Vitamin C has been shown to regenerate oxidized glutathione back into its active form, supplementing with 500–1000 mg of vitamin C on dosing days can meaningfully extend glutathione's effectiveness.
- Minimize light exposure of the solution: Reconstituted glutathione oxidizes readily, always store the vial wrapped in foil and draw your dose quickly to limit air and light contact.
- Rotate injection sites: Subcutaneous sites such as the abdomen, outer thigh, and lower back should be alternated to prevent tissue sensitivity from repeated injection at the same spot.
- Discard discoloured solution: Glutathione solution that has turned yellow or amber has oxidized and should not be used, potency will be significantly reduced and it may cause irritation.
- Hydration supports clearance: Adequate water intake on dosing days helps the liver and kidneys process and distribute glutathione effectively, especially when using at the higher end of the dose range.
- Avoid high heat after injection: Hot showers, saunas, or intense heat exposure immediately after injection can accelerate local degradation, allow at least 30 minutes before heat exposure.
High Dosage Side Effects
Taking too much Glutathione can increase the likelihood of unwanted side effects. Signs that your dose may be too high include:
- Skin rash or breakout: Some users experience a temporary increase in skin sensitivity or acne-like breakouts when glutathione doses are elevated too quickly, often a sign the detox load is outpacing the body's clearance rate.
- Abdominal discomfort or bloating: High glutathione loads can temporarily affect liver and digestive processing, resulting in mild cramping or a bloated feeling, particularly in the first few days of a new higher dose.
- Zinc depletion signs: Long-term high-dose use has been associated with reduced zinc levels in some studies, signs such as slow wound healing, brittle nails, or increased susceptibility to illness may indicate a need to reduce dose or supplement zinc.
- Headache or light-headedness: A sudden increase in antioxidant activity can transiently affect circulation and blood pressure regulation, presenting as mild headache or a feeling of light-headedness after injection.
- Injection site hardening: Repeated high-volume injections at the same site can cause localized tissue hardening, a clear sign to improve site rotation and consider reducing injection volume per site.
If any of these signs occur, reduce to the previous dose level and hold for one to two weeks before attempting to increase again.
Low Dosage Side Effects
A dose may be too low if expected effects are absent after several weeks of consistent administration. Common indicators include:
- No change in skin tone or brightness: If skin pigmentation, dullness, or uneven tone show no improvement after 4–6 weeks of consistent dosing, the glutathione level achieved may be insufficient to suppress melanin production effectively.
- Persistent fatigue or low energy: Glutathione plays a central role in mitochondrial function, if energy levels remain unchanged despite regular dosing, the dose may not be high enough to reduce oxidative stress at the cellular level.
- No improvement in recovery: Users dosing for exercise recovery who continue to experience prolonged muscle soreness or slow recovery after training may need a higher dose to meaningfully reduce post-exercise oxidative damage.
- Liver markers unchanged: For those monitoring liver enzyme levels, a lack of improvement after a full cycle may indicate the dose needs to be increased or the dosing frequency adjusted.
If these indicators persist after a full 4-week dose phase, advance to the next titration step and confirm that storage, reconstitution, and injection technique were all performed correctly.
