Dosing Protocol
GHK-Cu is administered once daily via subcutaneous injection throughout the active cycle.
There is no strict timing requirement, morning or evening dosing are both used across documented protocols.
Cycle strictly and observe the full rest period: GHK-Cu contains copper, and the off period exists to allow copper clearance and receptor resensitisation.
Do not use if you have Wilson's disease or any known copper metabolism disorder.

In biohacking forums, simplified protocols of 2mg subcutaneously 3 times per week (Mon/Wed/Fri) are a common alternative to daily dosing, with some users preferring this approach to reduce total copper load while maintaining weekly cumulative dose.
Administration Timing
GHK-Cu is injected subcutaneously once daily. Unlike peptides where timing relative to food or sleep materially changes outcomes, GHK-Cu has no strict timing dependency, consistency of daily dosing matters more than the time of day.
- Any consistent time of day: Morning or evening both appear across documented protocols. Pick a fixed time and hold it across the full cycle. Consistent daily dosing is what drives the cumulative collagen synthesis and gene expression changes.
- 3mL micro needle syringe required: All draws in this protocol fall below 10 units on a standard U-100 syringe. Keep your micro needle syringes stocked for the full 12-week active cycle, you will need one for every injection.
- Rotate injection sites every session: With daily injections across a 12-week cycle, systematic rotation across the abdomen and outer thighs is essential. Reusing the same site repeatedly causes localised lipohypertrophy and impairs absorption.
- UV protection during active cycle: GHK-Cu is sensitive to UV light. Keep the reconstituted vial wrapped or in a dark refrigerator compartment, and avoid prolonged sun exposure to injection sites, UV degradation of copper peptides in tissue has been noted in research.
- Complete the full rest period: The 8-week rest allows copper clearance and receptor resensitisation. Do not start a repeat cycle early, the off period is what makes the next cycle as effective as the first.
Notes & Best Practices
- Micro needle syringe required for entire protocol: Every draw, from 3.5 units intro to 7 units maintenance, is below standard U-100 readable range. A 3mL micro needle syringe is not optional here; it is the only way to measure these doses accurately.
- Copper accumulation, mandatory rest period: Each injection delivers a small amount of copper alongside the peptide. The rest period allows normal copper metabolism to clear the accumulated load. Do not skip it or shorten it.
- Effects build and persist: GHK-Cu's collagen remodelling and gene expression changes develop over the full 12-week active cycle and continue for several weeks after the cycle ends. Do not assess results at week 4, meaningful improvements in skin quality, firmness, and wound healing typically consolidate at weeks 8–12 and beyond.
- Wilson's disease, absolute contraindication: Individuals with Wilson's disease or any inherited copper metabolism disorder must not use GHK-Cu. The copper component cannot be safely processed.
- Discard at 28–30 days post-reconstitution: Protect from light at all times, GHK-Cu degrades faster than most peptides under UV exposure.
High Dosage Side Effects
Taking too much GHK-Cu can increase side effects. Signs your dose may be too high:
- Blood pressure drop or light-headedness: GHK has documented antihypertensive activity at sufficient doses. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded after injection, reduce to the previous dose step and monitor blood pressure for several days before reassessing.
- Injection site redness or warmth: A brief flush at the injection site resolving within an hour is normal. Persistent redness beyond 24 hours suggests dose volume is too high for that site, rotate more consistently and reduce to the intro dose.
- Mild nausea: Reported at above-range doses. Reduce to 1mg/day and allow 3–5 days to resolve.
- Signs of copper excess: Nausea, abdominal pain, or metallic taste that persists across multiple days. Discontinue and consult a healthcare professional if these occur.
If any of these occur, reduce to 1mg/day and hold for one week before attempting to advance again.
Low Dosage Side Effects
A dose may be too low if expected effects are absent after consistent use. Common indicators:
- No improvement in skin firmness, texture, or wound healing by weeks 6–8: GHK-Cu's collagen remodelling timeline is slow. If no perceptible change is present by week 8, confirm daily dosing consistency and micro needle measurement accuracy before adjusting.
- No improvement in hair quality or scalp condition by weeks 8–10: Hair follicle effects require full anagen cycle engagement, expect 8–12 weeks minimum before assessing follicle response.
- No reduction in inflammation or improved wound closure: If using GHK-Cu for active tissue repair and no response is present after 4 weeks at maintenance, confirm injection technique and site rotation before considering a dose adjustment on the next cycle.
If these indicators persist after a full 12-week cycle, the dose is already at the documented ceiling for daily use. Consider shifting to a 3×/week protocol at 2mg per injection on the next cycle to increase per-injection dose while managing cumulative copper load.
